Sara and David value their role in the community, and enjoy supporting local events, and the village school; particularly because they live and farm on-site, and their children have all attended the local school. This has involved the year 5 making Christmas puddings, and designing the pudding label.
Ellenden Farm Shop hosts popular Open Days which educate children and families about food provenance and farming. In the Autumn, Apple Day is a favourite, when the children come during half-term to pick apples in the orchards then see how they are pressed to make apple juice. There is usually a BBQ, serving our own beef, steak burgers, and refreshments, along with an arts and crafts tent, and even pumpkin carving, giving the day a real Autumnal feel.
The Festive Tasting Day is a very popular event, in November, when you can sample produce from Ellenden farm, and an array of local suppliers. It’s a chance to plan your Christmas menu, order your Christmas meat, and there has been known to be a special guest appearance from Father Christmas!
